I tried to use the OSX I have tried cleaning the superdrive, resetting PRAM and slowing down the writing speed. I used these instructions: Apple told me they had not heard of this at all, but it’s in these forums and on the other Mac forums all over the place.

The problem I have just came to light. I have ordered an external firewire optical drive to see if I can load Snow Leopard. No problem installing on the Macbook.

I tried my copy of OSX It would be much easier if Apple offered Snow Leopard as a downloadable software. It works well enough.

I’ve been waiting since day 1 to install Snow Leopard on my iMac. I have a feeling this problem was known very early and sort of swept under the table.

It is not clear that replacing the internal drive will last a long time. Firewire data rate not fast enough to load installer program. The optical drive it will not mount DVD data disks.
