Simply set the required universes to Out Type of ArtNet and enable them. This will download the Patch information from Capture to MagicQ. My second question is will ‘Capture Polar’ be a better option for visualisation?? So I really am at the start and guess what, a problem already. This part is not updated yet in the manual.

Note that when receiving patch data from Capture along with fixtures having DMX addresses set in Capture, the channel number must also be set in Capture. CITP is an open protocol specific to Capture which enables both control of lighting and the transfer of the show patch between MagicQ and Capture.

Users browsing this forum: On reading the manual to interface both it says open Magic Q – ”Start up MagicQ PC – you should see the initial screen requesting whether you wish to continue you the existing show, load a new show, or want help.
Check that the network ports on the two PCs are configured to the same IP subnet, that they are enabled, and that you have configured MagicQ to use the correct network port Setup, View Settings, IP address.
Note that when using stand alone MagicVis, for both the Output and the Blind Preview wysiwhg work then the console Output must be set to output over the network using a network protocol such as ArtNet, ACN or Pathport – otherwise the Output will not be shown when Blind Preview is in operation. Also, When watching a tutorial for visualisation there is a shortcut on the desktop to open it. If it is a demo, don’t bother, won’t work! Connecting to a Visualiser.

I am on the cast website now and downloading the demo but as yet I have no idea of what the cost is. If MagicQ can not identify a fixture it may patch the wrong fixture or not patch it at all.
MagicQ uses a fields in the personality to specify the Capture manufacturer name Make and Capture moving light name. This ensures the patch can be transferred correctly to the console.

I have recently decided to get a decent lighting rig together and have wusiwyg advised to use Chamsys Magic Q. Desciption of all this is in the MagicQ manual.
It does not install Wysiwyg!
