Controller You can only disable the search for drivers on the promise controller during boot up as far as the resources go you will still have to load drivers for windows, because windows will find the controller everytime you boot up, so it will still take up some rad.

Wed May 08, 6: I don’t think there’s any way to disable the promise controller, though if you don’t put any devices on it, it should not take up resources once in windows.

Ars Praefectus et Subscriptor. Anyone have any advice? I did the updates, everything right, reboot, can’t get back into windows, stalls in the boot up screen, the bar just keeps moving but the screen doesn’t budge I’ve had that happen with windows on the first reboot after changeing driver. My problem is that when using the in non raid mode so i can hook up more drives, everytime I 7av133 something with one of the disks such as update the locate database my system crashes.
Had similar problems on slackware.
One is a via controller and the other promisr a promise ide or ide raid controller. Moreover, for a common product series, Promise uses a unified driver. My understanding was that since the controller is the “Lite” version and not the regular retail version, the drivers from Promise actually won’t work.
